Coming up on our favorite weekend of sports spectating, watching the finals of Wimbledon Championships at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, host to this spectacular and historical event that began in 1877. When women first began to play tennis in the 1860s, heavy materials such as flannel and even wearing a bustle was deemed appropriate. It was Maud Watson, who won the first Wimbledon Ladies’ championship in 1884, who popularized the white tennis trend as it masked perspiration. Wimbledon still request players to withstand this tradition. So went spotting trendy tennis stars such as Maria Sharapova, the Williams Sisters, and Petra Kvitova to see how they individualize the classic color. We noted Venus in particular who custom designed her tennis romper for this year’s Wimbledon, and no doubt launching a new trend in tennis styles. Can’t get to The Championships this year?
