Our friend Nicola is on her way to Japan to run the Tokyo Marathon on February 24th. She reached out to us for our advice on what is on-trend in Tokyo this winter, and what to wear to keep warm and look chic while exploring the city. As a tourist in Tokyo, you will want to keep your wardrobe simple but stylish. We always recommend packing in a color scheme so you can mix and match for versatility. Our first stop is always weather.com – high 40’s to low 30’s in Tokyo in February – and then we set out to find just the right items. Like any travel in the winter, the key to style and comfort is layering. Vests are a very good idea, whether fur, faux, down, knit or other cozy fabric. Glamourpuss NYC has fantastic cold-weather vests, hats, scarves and other cold weather accessories that we highly recommend.
Our sources tell us that Japanese girls wear boots and skinny jeans in the winter, so when in Rome . . or Paris, New York or Tokyo. . . Typically during city travel, you spend a lot of time on your feet, so we looked for a pair of comfortable and stylish boots like these great Tory Burch wedges. Japanese women are very fashion-forward so we injected a bit of trends in the purple peplum, platform pumps and Alexis Bittar Statement Jewelry. Every piece here packs well and can be combined for several different looks – you can pair the collar with the dress and boots for either day or night or wear the pumps and jewelry with the peplum sweater to dress it up for a night on the town. Clearly these are two classic and stylish looks that would be at home in any metropolitan area. For a full list of what to pack, please go to our W2WW Packing Lists.
