Save Venice Inc. is celebrating Carnival and 40 years of restoring art in Venice at Un Ballo in Maschera. Inspired by Venice, the Jewel of the Adriatic, the festivities are being held in the Ballroom of The Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, March 15. What a mysterious and glamorous event when the dress is Black Tie and Mask or Venetian-inspired Costumes! Imagine the excitement Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos and the frolicsome Co-Chairs, Adelina Wong Ettelson, Mary Kathryn Navab, Carlos Souza and Matthew White as they dress for such an exciting event sponsored by Bvlgari and Valentino. We found this exquisite Valentino gown with cascading ruffles and accessorized it elegantly, including a complementing, gilded mask. Venice has long been considered the jewel of the Adriatic. Her artistic heritage belongs to us all. During the past 40 years the organization has raised more that 20 million dollars to restore over 400 works of art and architecture in Venice. Every year, the Board of Save Venice, including a Projects committee of renowned experts, selects restoration projects in collaboration with the Venetian Superintendencies of Monuments, Fine Arts and Museums.
Save Venice currently has more than 30 projects underway throughout the city, made possible with support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
The proceeds from this evening will make possible an entire phase of the restoration campaign of the church of San Sebastiano, filled with stunning canvases and frescoes by the great Renaissance artist Paolo Veronese.
