For the first time in more than 30 years, Philadelphia will host one of golf’s four major championships this week at Merion Golf Club. The 2013 U.S. Open Championship tees off at Merion from Monday, June 10 to Sunday, June 16. Established in 1896, Merion Golf Club enjoys the distinction of hosting more USGA championships than any other club in America as the 2013 U.S. Open will be its 18th. It has been the site of several iconic moments in the game’s history, including Bobby Jones completing the “Grand Slam” in 1930, and Ben Hogan winning the 1950 U.S. Open, 16 months after surviving a near-fatal automobile accident. With all of this history, bringing the U.S. Open back to Merion means a great deal to golf and to the golfers and the chance to win a U.S. Open on one of the most historic courses in the country.
For what to wear either playing or spectating, we shopped our favorites from J. McLaughlin. There is nothing more flattering or easy to wear all summer long that these super chic sheaths. And for hitting the links ourselves, we find the fit and fabric of their shorts, slacks and skirts to be just the right blend of stretch and shape. Ditto the shirts, which every season pack a stylish swing right down the center of the fairway!
