Starting June 12, 2014, Pinehurst will host both the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships. It will mark the first time in history that both tournaments will be played in the same year, on the same course. We reached out to the Mayor of Pinehurst, Nancy Roy Fiorella, who is poised to welcome the golf world to her town. “We’re all very excited that historic Pinehurst will be the site of both the Men’s and Women’s US Open Golf Championships in June. In conjunction with the United States Golf Association, the Village of Pinehurst is planning a number of events to expand the spectators’ experience ‘beyond the gates,’ but certainly what takes place inside the gates will be the big news. Whether you’re a ticket holder or just visiting the Village during the two weeks of the Men’s and Women’s Championships, there will be something for everyone. As a new (struggling) golfer, I am in a fresh love affair with the sport.
