GUEST DIARY• BY: KAREN KLOPP AND HILARY DICK
There is fashion news in philanthropy as The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center will once again be partnering with style-forward NET-A-PORTER.
For those of you who have attended the The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Annual Winter Lunch, you know this is one stylish group of givers and shakers who are dedicated to The Society and the essential support they provide for MSK Kids and other areas of the hospital. Pre-Covid, the committee was completely hands-on with providing time and energy into enhancing the patient experience and advancing essential research.
Winter Lunch Co-Chairs Claire Capello, Marcella Guarino, Betsy Pitts, and Marisa Rose van Bokhorst are continuing The Society’s mission at a virtual event on February 3rd where guests will hear directly from Dr. Andrew Kung, Chair of Pediatrics, about his leadership of MSK Kids during an unprecedented year. Most importantly, he will highlight the extraordinary achievements of the young patients.
As a long serving member of The Society, Hilary knows the importance of the affair. “Though the luncheon will be virtual this year it is more important than ever to support this amazing cause. To that end, I thought I would shop Net-A-Porter.com as if I was going to an in-person event. Like Karen, I found wonderfully chic ladies-who-lunch dresses for the occasion. And we both had pinks and pastels on our minds. Statement making earrings are a must in this time of zoom meetings and though not seen, a pretty handbag, pumps and statement sunglasses make it feel more normal. And for those just wanting to be comfortable, a classic denim pant with a cozy on trend cardigan is perfect for a cold February day.”
NET-A-PORTER is donating 20% of sales (on full-priced items) from now through February 7th to The Society when you use the code MSK2021 at checkout. So Click Here to start shopping!
Since the virtual event takes place on February 3rd, it gave me a great opportunity to update my Valentine’s Day look. Pink is an upbeat hue that signifies health and success — “in the pink” — “everything’s rosy”! And there are so many shades of pink to choose to brighten your winter mood.
“Hot Pink” can make even the most lockdown-looney woman perk up at the sight of it.
While Pastel Pinks suggest a more demure approach to the shade.
Pink Florals are ever-blooming this season.
And then there is the sultry sensuality of Dusty Pink.
While a virtual event, we will be together in spirit so please join this sensational gathering to ensure that MSK Kids will continue to swiftly translate scientific discoveries to develop new cancer treatments for the children who desperately need them.
