While the wind may be howling, inviting the cold, common or otherwise, the city is heating up with excitement for one of the season’s most anticipated events, The Winter Show. Historically, each edition, this year is its 70th!, is stocked with top experts and curators in the world of fine and decorative arts. Building the anticipation for the week-long show, the Opening Night, which is called for Thursday, January 18th, promises attendees an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live jazz as a benefit for the East Side Settlement House. The iconic Park Avenue Armory is the set stage, signaling the start of the season’s social whirl.
The fair is a celebration of 5000 Years of Art, Antiques and Design where artists, designers and their devotees ascend en masse to the Wade Thompson Drill Hall. The hall is transformed into a palace of the posh and precious, with myriad works from paintings and works on paper, fine furniture, and design, to jewelry, and contemporary ceramics and glass.
The main event runs from January 19th – 28th and offers work spanning centuries. This year features a special exhibit dedicated to Americana and a carefully curated lineup of luncheons and events. See the full schedule by clicking on the image below …

A little more about the THE WINTER SHOW CHARITY BENEFICIARY: East Side House is a community-based organization headquartered in the South Bronx and is the owner and beneficiary of The Winter Show. With a focus on education and workforce development, East Side House works with schools, community centers, and other partners to bring quality education and resources to residents and to provide innovative services that meet the emerging needs of families in the Bronx and Northern Manhattan.
Throughout the pandemic, East Side House remained on the frontlines. In response to the needs of the community, they launched a hunger relief program that rescues food from struggling farmers to feed 5,000 people per week and delivers meals for over 900 homebound older adults per day. Simultaneously, they continued to operate safe in-person learning services for thousands of students so that they could stay on track academically, even amidst school closures.
Now, East Side House is building a commercial-grade Community Teaching Kitchen that will provide the community’s young adults the opportunity to gain skills in culinary arts, warehouse, and inventory management, earn a drivers license, gain work experience, and be placed in jobs in the food and delivery services industry. The food these young people prepare and deliver will go directly to the families in the community who need it the most. Quite literally, these at-risk young adults will be feeding their own community.
