The New York Junior League invites volunteers, family and friends to their 2012 Winter Ball Moonlight in Marrakesh at The Pierre Hotel on Saturday, March 3rd where the ballroom will be transformed into a Moroccan souk, enveloped by the rich colors of North Africa. Guests will dine on the hotel’s legendary international cuisine, and dance into the night to the romantic and evocative sounds of NYC Swing. This is sure to be an unforgettable evening as the Junior League honors their 2012 Outstanding Sustainers and Outstanding Volunteers and commemorates the 60 th anniversary of the NYJL Winter Ball. The NYJL’s 2,500 volunteers contribute more than 250,000 hours of service annually and exemplify the diverse activities and community projects we undertake. Their programs target four areas of need in New York City: Youth Education, Youth Mentoring, Adult Mentoring and Outreach Education. JL volunteers also impact the community-at-large through signature initiatives, including: The Financial Literacy Program, The Community Health Access Model Program (CHAMP), The Playground Improvement Project, The Nonprofit Boards Clearinghouse Program, and an annual “Conference on Volunteerism” for invitees from non-profit organizations and other members of the community.
