Mickey DrexlerWe have long admired J.Crew‘s CEO Mickey Drexler for the prescient creativity  and ability, first with The Gap in the ’80s and ’90s and then with J.Crew in the 2000s, to take a faltering clothing brand and transform it into something universally desired. Tomorrow night, Thursday, May 24th at 10pm, “J.Crew and the Man Who Dressed America” premieres on CNBC and will  re-air on Sunday, May 27th at 10PM ET.  We’re so excited to watch!

Thanks in no small part to Mickey’s impeccable eye, we had a tough time narrowing down our favorites from J.Crew’s current selection to just one outfit, but by the same token, it was almost impossible to go wrong. We drew our inspiration from the “Classic J.Crew Look” — instantly recognizable, perfectly tailored, and effortlessly preppy-chic. To us, this was a crisp white shirt, well-washed matchstick jeans, with an of-the-moment turn to the cuff, and a dreamy cashmere cardigan in 12 delicious shades.  The evocative bandanna scarf,  and comfy, wearable flats complete the look that is the essence of confident American style.

THE ALL-AMERICAN:  No one does it better!

CNBC profiles J. Crew CEO Millard ‘Mickey’ Drexler, dubbed ‘The King of Retail’ for his intuitive sense of what the public craves and for his ability to turn around troubled companies. At 67, Drexler is known for his obsessive focus on detail, unflinching candor and for trusting his instincts over market research. Since taking over J. Crew in 2003, Drexler has successfully introduced designer-quality clothing for the masses, driving the company’s revenues up 170% to nearly $1.9 billion in 2011.”
