Could there be a more a more marvelously provocative theme for this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit as PUNK: Chaos to Couture, examinging punk’s impact on high fashion from the movement’s birth in the 1970s through its continuing influence today. There will be a virtual culture class of art, fashion and celebrity mounting the hallowed stone steps on Monday Night, May 6. Beyoncé will serve as Honorary Chair. Co-Chairs will be Academy Award nominated actress Rooney Mara; Lauren Santo Domingo, Co-Founder of M’ODA ‘OPERANDI, Riccardo Tisci, Creative Director of Givenchy, and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue.
For what to wear to such an outrageous outing, we had a ball shopping at M’ODA ‘OPERANDI, the event’s sponsor, creating our own clash of styles. We took a very feminine Marchesa Tulle Strapless Dress and added some edgy accessories like a Helmut Lang black leather jacket, studded gloves, jewelry from Ca & Lou and your choice of two well-heeled stilettos.
