What to wear when a friend invites you to join her festive Mardi Gras Party? Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday,” refers to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after Epiphany and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday. Whether you’re celebrating famously in New Orleans, or elsewhere in a more subdued setting, we have the perfect look to pay homage to this boisterous tradition. This great dress is oh-so-flattering on most every body type, and easily can be dressed up or down depending on your plans. In keeping with the Mardi Gras theme, we played with purple, green and gold, the traditional colors of the fête – purple represents justice; green, faith; and gold, power. We jazzed it up with feathers to strut and beads – which are traditionally thrown from New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade floats to the crowds – to toss! Just don’t miss the shoes!
