what to wear charlottesville

I shopped Barney’s this week looking for something to wear to my daughter’s 21st birthday party in Charlottesville, Virginia and found these great picks.  I love the crispness of the white and black and think it looks fresh after this long cold winter. The party is outside at a restaurant called Maya and I think the Parker Chain Link-Print Tunic Dress will be perfect no matter the weather.

While in Virginia I like to refer to The Scout Guide, a guide that originated in Happy Birthday Sophie!. It highlights all of the best of local businesses and it always leads me to great finds whatever city I am in.

I also enjoy re-visiting the spots that my daughter Sophie has found while at UVA. For example I cannot miss the Take it Away Sandwich Shop. There is something about their bread and secret special sauce that makes each sandwich delicious! And while you are there, just down the street is a very cute clothing store called Duo Boutique. Fun, affordable clothing. Another great store is Eloise, a bit more high end and hip.” For wonderful antiques and accessories I go to And George, a beautiful shop where you are bound to find something you can’t live without.

I usually stay at the Boar’s Head Inn when in Charlottesville and also love Keswick Hall but it is a bit farther away. Dinner is always great at C & O, be sure to check out the downstairs bar and I also like Commonwealth and The Local. But most of all it is about spending time with my now oh so grown-up daughter, Sophie.
