Fitchs Corner Luncheon

If you are looking for a wonderful weekend in the horsey countryside, head up to Fitch’s Corner for the 2013 Championships, celebrating 20 years of Horse Trials and Weekend Events, July 19-21.    The Spectator Luncheon is held on Sunday under a fully decorated tent, overlooking the stadium arena, where guests enjoy a sumptous seated luncheon, featuring local products.  Guests enjoy stadium jumping, the Collector Car Parade and the presentation of the Fitch’s Corner Award which is given annually to a person or organization who has made outstanding contributions to the equestrian community.  This year’s deserving honorees are Donald and Barbara Tober.

For what to wear to such a county-chic event, when “ladies are requested to wear hats, if convenient,” we trotted to Tory Burch to find a perfect sky-blue ensemble.  They are showing the dress a little longer, but we would hem it to touch the top of the knee or shorter, if comfortable.   Wedges are always appropriate footwear in the country, where grass is the usual footing.  Combine some simple accessories and a great hat to complete your tented look.   Nothing to wear?  Never fear, you can find everything you need for Sunday’s Spectator Luncheon under the tent at Fitch’s Market. Open all day Saturday and Sunday and shopping cocktails available Saturday evening during the Blue Jean Ball.
