Fitch's Corner 19th Annual Blue Jean BallIt is everyone’s favorite weekend in the Millbrook countryside and what a kick-off for the 2012 London Olympics!   The Fitch’s Corner Weekend will celebrate the great red white and blue this July 20-22, hosting the Northeast Regional Horse Trials Championship with dressage, cross country, and stadium jumping.   Grab your partner and do si do to the sounds of DJ FLO at the  19th Annual Blue Jean Ball, where all will be in attendance in their patriotic finest under the large Spectator Tent.  Sip, shop, and nibble beginning at 5pm, enjoy drinks in the Beer Garden at 6pm, and cap off the evening with star-spangled dinner and dancing at 7pm. The shops at Fitch’s Market will stay open until 8pm, and the evening is generously sponsored by Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management and a dear friend of Fitch’s Corner. Reservations are required and can be made through Fitch’s Corner Reservations. Don’t wait too long, as last year the Ball sold out!

We’re loving red, white and blue this summer, so we were thrilled when this invitation called for Patriotic Attire. For what to wear, we shopped Ralph Lauren, the designer of the US Olympic Team’s Opening Ceremony uniforms, and even added these adorable Team USA Ceremony Newsboy caps and berets as a nod to the International Olympic Village theme of the evening. A denim jacket is a given for any blue jean ball when the temperature may dip, and these white straight-leg jeans are so flattering. You’ll look Yankee Doodle dandy in either of these ensembles.

Then Onto the Spectators Luncheon on Sunday

fitchs corner

The weekend of patriotism continues on Sunday, July 22 at noon with the Spectator Luncheon in honor of the lovely Mrs. Oakleigh Thorne, recipient of the 2012 Fitch’s Corner Award. Luncheon guests will enjoy stadium jumping, the Collector Car Parade and the presentation of the Fitch’s Corner Award, all benefitting the Millbrook Rescue Squad that provides the important emergency EMT service for the community.

For what to wear to this chic mid-day affair, we went shopping at Nordstrom and found the ultimate in patriotic-chic: this American Flag Dress by Catherine Malandrino. This dress makes such a statement on its own that we went with subtle accessories in neutral tones for the shoes, jewelry, and bag.  And we always top off our Spectator Luncheon look with a fantastic hat like this cool-girl fedoral.
