We recently received a submission from a reader who asked us, ” I am traveling to Italy for two weeks in October and want to take a hat for sun protection.  Should I take a dark, straw hat or will the season allow for a wool fedora or bucket hat?”

Dear Emily,  Thank you so much for contacting us at What2WearWhere, and what a great question!  Lucky you – Italy in October will be a dream trip!   We agree with you, that the time of year seems late for light colored straw, and too early for felt or wool. We checked WEATHER.COM and found the highs will be in the 70’s during the day.   We went shopping at Eric Javits for a terrific selection of styles and they are all packable,  which makes them ideal for taking in your suitcase or folding into your tote when you are out and about.   ‘Buon viaggio!’

A darker straw fedora would be good choice.
