Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year begins on January 23 and is an opportunity to celebrate some lively traditions, like giving red undies to your loved ones. In Chinese tradition, red is one of the luckiest colors and it is believed to ward off danger and evil lurking in the New Year. We went shopping at J Crew to find this vibrant assortment of reds to wear to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.  Chinese New Year is like Christmas celebrations. In addition to dances and firecrackers, families spend time together giving gifts and feasting. If you want a spectacular and singular experience, go to the 13th Annual Chinatown Lunar Parade in Chinatown on Sunday January 29. It begins on Mott Street and winds its way up and down the street in Chinatown from 11:30am to 4pm.  5000 people are expected to participate!  For more information on the Year of the Dragon, go to NYCGO.COM the Official Guide to NYC.
