Those the wind may be howling cold, New York City heats up with excitement as The Winter Antiques Show comes to town. Known as “the best of the best,” it opens to fortunate guests on Thursday, January 23th at 5:00pm with the Opening Night Party. It is a special evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a celebration of 5000 Years of Art, Antiques and Design. Artists, designers and their devotees ascend en mass to the Wade Thompson Drill Hall transformed into a palace of the posh and precious. A portion of the Show’s proceeds go to benefit East Side House Settlement, one of NYC’s oldest social service organizations. For tickets and information, go to Winter Antiques Preview Party.
The show officially opens on Friday, January 24 and runs through February 2nd so you have plenty of time to take it all in. Held at the historic Park Avenue Armory, the fair highlights a dynamic mix of works dating from ancient times through the present day and maintains the highest standards of quality in the art market. Each object at the fair is vetted for authenticity, date, and condition by a committee of 150 experts from the United States and Europe.
A special occasion like this, deserves a Special Dress and we assembled this collection of the feminine trend that is so popular and still going strong. And with good reason, these frocks are figure friendly and comfy to wear. I resisted the trend for a while, thinking that I was too short to wear a mid-length but when I tried one on, it was a pleasant surprise. Pair with high heeled or platform pumps or a stylish pair of boots will compliment the haute style.
Goodbye LBD’S, hello SBD’S Special Black Dress

“The Show is a … galaxy of colliding worlds. Nearly every booth provides a glimpse into some areas of visual culture, from Egyptian antiquities to American folk art to postwar Italian art glass.” —The New York Times
