Norisol Ferrari and Yves Durif Fashion Week 2012

On her own from a young age, Norisol understands what it means to be independent and self-defined. Venezuelan born, she grew up in New York in the 80s nurtured by drag queens and nightlife impresarios. Inspired by the theatrical and fiercely individual style of the times—much of it sewn at home—Norisol learned by osmosis. She traveled the globe, expanding her fields of reference, experiencing other cultures and absorbing the beauty of the natural world.  Norisol had an extended stint as a stylist for celebrities and performers in the US and Europe, and was head designer for Gas Jeans in Italy, before creating 2BNN, her own brand of contemporary ready-to-wear. Soon her passion for furs and exotic leathers beckoned, and collaborating with some of the best craftsmen and tailors in New York led to the launch of Norisol’s eponymous collection in 2009. Her collections are the creative expression of everything she has witnessed, experienced and learned: about character, destiny, freedom, style and life.

“Inspired [in the designer’s own words] by ‘Jean Harlow meets Tina Turner in Mad Max,’ Ferrari has a sharp eye for detail and a strong understanding of a good fit, and it shows in her work. As she continues to grow as a designer, she is one we have our eyes on.” —Kristin Studeman, Style.com
