French FlagWhere will you celebrate La Fête Nationale? The next best thing to Bastille Day in France is the annual fête put on by Michele and Patricia Jean at Stissing House in Pine Plains, NY on Saturday, July 14. The festivities begin at noon and reservations are required. For further information please call 518.398.8800.

We shopped SAKS.com for these red white and blue looks inspired by the French Flag. Breezy cotton eyelet is perfect for the heat and playful spirit of July. We went with accessories in bold reds and blues to add that festive summer pop to these simply chic looks.

Bastille Day Paris

Bastille Day is the French national holiday which is celebrated on 14 July of each year. In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.  From Wikipedia.
