It is said that a few ghosts still haunt the 55,000 square foot drill hall which is possessed by a rich evocative history. Built in 1861 as a home to the first militia following President Abraham Lincoln’s call for volunteer troops. According to documents “Members of what was known as the “Silk Stocking” Regiment included New York’s most prominent Gilded Age Families including the Vanderbilts, Van Rensselaers, Roosevelts, Stewarts, Livingstons and Harrimans. Built as both a military facility and a social club, the reception rooms on the first floor and the Company Rooms on the second floor were designed by the most prominent designers and artists of the day including Louis Comfort Tiffany, Stanford White, Herter Brothers and Pottier & Stymus”
And for our what to wear to such a scintillating soiree, Hilary and I created a bit of our own mischief in choosing our quirky ensembles. What’s new pussycat?
“I couldn’t help but choose a leopard print dress for the event .. not only is it on trend but I thought I could have a bit of fun dressing it up for Halloween Night. The delightful Jimmy Choo sandals add a bit of a tailfeather to the look and embellished cat ears are always a good idea.
