On Wednesday, October 3 at 7pm, Carnegie Hall will host a pitch-perfect evening as Chicago Symphony Orchestra performs for Carnegie Hall’s Opening Night Gala.  An opening night with Orff’s Carmina Burana is auspicious; performed by Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, it’s breathtaking.  Kick off Carnegie Hall’s 2012–2013 season with this outstanding group and its illustrious music director as they dive into Carmina Burana’s exciting rhythms and powerful melodies. Conducted by Honorary Chairman The Honorable Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of the City of Chicago, joined by Gala Chairmen Mrs. Mercedes T. Bass, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar de la Renta, and Mrs. Julio Mario Santo Domingo, and Gala Co-Chairmen Mr. and Mrs. Henry R. Kravis, Mr. and Mrs. Peter W. May, Mr. and Mrs. Burton P. Resnick, and Ann Ziff, and Gala Corporate Chairman Mr. Dennis M. Nally, Chairman, PricewaterhouseCoopers International Ltd., the evening will begin at 5:30 pm with a Pre-Concert Reception in Carnegie Hall’s Rohatyn Room, followed by the main Concert at 7 pm on Perelman Stage in Stern Auditorium, and the festivities will finally move in a crescendo at 8:30 pm to the Waldorf=Astoria for the Post-Concert Gala Dinner.
